Surface Geeks Comments Changes

Written by on January 17, 2014 in Blog with 8 Comments

I’m using this post to test some comment changes that I’m making to the system.  I’ve talked about it on the podcast but I’m attempting to get WordPress comments and the forum to play nicely together.  This post could disappear as fast as it appears!

    It’s a work in progress!

It would be pretty cool to have comments sync between blog posts and the forums.. Sometimes I like to post directly on a post, but it seems that most people only read it if it shows up in the forums. It is also convenient because then there is automatically a forum post for each show.

  3. Yeah I never check the comments.

It should be doing all of this right now.  Test a recent post and see if you can get it to work, break, etc.

My first comment was on the blog post. This one is in the forums. Let’s see what happens.

It looks like it is working very well.  The only thing I can’t tell is the log in part.  In the forums, I log in with my forums ID, but on the blog it prompts for WordPress.  However, It seems my accounts are linked because it shows as posting from the same person.  I had a word press account long before I ever had a Surface Geeks Forum account.  However, It is possible that both accounts use the exact same user id, password, and avatar.  not sure if that messes things up.
