Why in the world do you want the desktop to go away on RT? I am in the desktop all the time. Accessing network drives, doing disk cleanup, IE on desktop does work a bit better than the Metro version on some sites and YES Regedit is still very useful. If you don’t want the desktop just don’t use it, but why would you want eliminate functionality? How does the desktop make the device less useful? It makes no sense.

One more thing on this topic, as long as there is a USB port on the Surface there will be a need for the desktop.

Agreed. Depending on what I am doing, I will use the desktop version of OneNote over the Metro app version. If I’m just taking notes, Metro is fine. But, I like the easier access and finer control of the desktop version when I am creating pages of documentation and reference notes in a notebook. Using things like headings, tags, screen clippings, links, reorganizing pages and tabs, subpage promotion, inserting dates, etc… are much easier and faster in the desktop version. I’ll let go of the desktop version when they figure out how to fully feature the Metro version and also figure out how enhance the touch menu. (fine for minor things but, tedious for lots of editing)

Ditto. I am tired of all the whiners getting there way. I hate how they added the start smf power buttons. What did look very clean looks like crap now?

I would love to see one more USB port (maybe on the other side) and an HDMI port instead of mini display port. A Little lighter and thinner would be nice  :)

  6. SurfaceGeek says:

    +1 for HDMI!
    +1 for lighter
    +1 for thinner

How about a faster CPU (ARM Processor)

  8. Agree with hdmi. Weight and thickness are fine as I am used to it.

I’m less concerned with HDMI especially with how good streaming has become. I’m all for more speed and memory and battery life.

Thinner and lighter would be great. I use desktop mode for professional apps and when the modern UI apps don’t work as well.
